Anglaagan Turned Four

Four years…if Anglaagan started as a freshman he would be marching on the stage by now. Oh, why does time go faster as we go older? The idea of making Anglaagan popped into my head in a hotel room in Tagaytay, and four years later I’m still here, writing.

For the man behind Anglaagan (aka. myself) the past year has been a year of many changes. Work got busier more than ever, and it’s showing no sign of getting any less busy soon. Back at home, we made some budgeting “alignments”, prioritising and de-prioritising stuff, especially those that tend to hurt the pocket. Still, we were able to do some of those stuff that makes life worth living – like roam around. In a hectic world gone mad, we have to do what we have to do to keep that little bit of sanity intact. We were able to travel with my wife’s cousins to Hong Kong, our second visit to the place, and got to see places we missed the first time around as well as doubled as tour guides of sorts. We were also able to visit Indonesia with my mom, dad and sister, got struck with awe at the grandeur of its ancient temples, tasted its marvellous cuisine, as well got a taste of Jakarta’s one-two punch of rain and traffic jam. Locally we were able to take a short tour of Palawan, the Philippines’ last frontier and I dare say the most beautiful part of the country. We were also able to take a couple of trips to Cebu, and took some time to rediscover Manila. We were also able to discover for ourselves the interiors of Quezon and Laguna during the Holy Week.

Overall, the past year, though not as active for Anglaagan as the previous ones, was still very fulfilling, with a good number of memories that will no doubt linger in my own and my family’s mind. I’m definitely glad to have been able to continue writing through Anglaagan’s fourth, and will no doubt keep on going through the fifth, sharing bits and pieces of my experiences. And so without further ado let me take you to my usual anniversary gallery – my form of thanks for the year that was, and of looking forward for more to come.
